After attending the Pan Ams over the weekend, I watched a few lower belt matches and saw a women’s blue belt match. One woman jumped closed guard, the other lost her balance and her knee buckled. Match over.
Why is jumping guard legal? Why does the other person have to keep the jumper safe by holding their weight? There are risks for lower back injuries, knee injuries, and head trauma from being knocked unconscious from intentional and unintentional slams. These are just a few reasons.
